About Paul Pennell of Artistry in Aluminium
Paul is unique in the Motoring and Art World as using his skills acquired in over 40 years making one off wings and bodies at the highest level for many important cars he has refined and adapted his technique to make stunning Repousse work pictures which are entirely handmade from sheet aluminium using only basic hand tools and a leather sandbag. The 3 dimensional pictures give fantastic reflections and portray their subjects in a way that a normal painting cannot .
Paul's work has been sold to Collectors all over the world and has exhibited at events from both the Goodwood Motoring Festivals to the Chelsea Art Show .
Paul specialises in one off commissions and has many high profile clients including prestige Motor Manufacturers and PLC's.
Creating a Picture
Paul always likes to work from photos from which he creates a drawing which is then engraved on to the aluminium sheet but as the shape starts to form and it becomes 3 dimensional the perspective changes so all the complex shapes needed are formed purely by eye.
Commissions
Paul can create a one off handmade artwork be it a car , motorbike , aeroplane and anything that has nice shape in it will work well he has even created Male and Female torsos so always happy to discuss potential commissions.
